Tangs, also known as surgeonfish, are marine fish belonging to the family Acanthuridae. These fish are characterized by a pair of sharp spines located on either side of the tail.
Blue Tang

Purple Tang Diet
Herbivore- Feed a diet rich in vegetable matter including frozen herbivore foods, dried seaweed, or live macro algae to help the Purple Tang retain its color and prevent lateral line erosion.
Tang's need a variety of live and frozen foods. They love zooplankton and should be fed a diet that includes brine shrimp, grindal worms, mysis, as well as flake and pellet foods. Several feedings daily is better for Tang's than one larger feeding.
The scopas tang, or brown tang, is a member of the genus Zebrasoma, which is a part of the family of tangs and surgeonfish, Acanthuridae.

During the Tang Dynasty, it was popular to raise carp in ponds.'Douche' As the result of a dominant genetic mutation, one of these carp displayed "gold" (actually yellowish orange) rather than silver coloration.
The Vlamingii Tang, also known as the Vlaming's Unicornfish, or Bignose Unicornfish, has a brown to purple body color when an adult. In the juvenile, The color graduates from lighter, dorsaly, to darker, ventrally.
Sailfin Tang, Zebrasoma desjardinii This is the large fish which is yellow, white, brown, and grey, with stripes and spots in these colors. I obtained it in May, 1993 as a juvenile about 1.25 inches long. It is now over 2 inches and healthy.
The only fish that I have put in my reef so far are herbavours that eat algae such as an algae blenny (Salarius Fasciatus) and a yellow eyed kole tang. I don't feed these fish at all, and they exist fine on the little bit of micro algae that grows.
Has been known to get along fine with, but not limited to, the following : Tridacna, Corals, Anemones, Scallops, Mandarin Goby, Yellow Tang, Sebae & Percula Clown, Anthias, 6-line Wrasse, & Fire Fish, Cleaner & Camelback Shrimps.
On the day of the hatching, the eggs actually seem to clear, still retaining a light purple tang. The eyes now are like hundreds of tiny silver mirrors, reflecting light as the male's cleaning and oxygenating activity sways them in every which way.

Fish only - totally up to you - could have a genus tank, with fishes of the same genus like yellow tang, sailfin tang in the Zebrasoma genus,
or say a tank of groupers in the Epinephelus genus.
The addition of a 3" Naso Tang contributes very little to the bio-load of the aquarium in comparison to a 9" Naso Tang - probably about 1/27th.

The fins have distinct orange-gold markings, and the cadual fin is usually more brilliant with an almost red tang to it. Their is two jet-black ocellatus marks on the fish; one just behind the gill plate, and one just behind the caudal penduncle.

And very occasionally I use a wee bit of non-iodine sea salt for spore-element supply; something I do with every tank, even non-Tang tanks (we're talking about half a teaspoon for a hundred liters of fresh water here; a minimal amount.) ...
