Temporary pools

Origin: Small temporary pools of the River Ecucu drainage.

In the wild these fish live in temporary pools of water that form in the wet, or rainy, seasons of Africa and South America. When the wet season is over the pools dry up.

Origin: Southern India and Sri Lanka. Grows in slow and still water, including temporary pools and small lakes that dry out during the dry season.

This fish normally lives in slow-moving and often stagnant waters in ponds, swamps, streams and rivers (Mekong and Chao Phraya basins), flooded rice paddies or temporary pools which may dry up.
