Thoracic

Aquarium Thick-lipped GouramiThorichthys Aureus

Thoracic - Of the thorax. (The section of the body between the head and the abdomen)
Trochantin - A separate, small, platelike appendage of caddisfly larvae located anteriorly at the base of the foreleg.

In most species complex movements of the thoracic appendages produce a constant current of water between the valves.

Metathorax: The third or most posterior thoracic segment.
Methemoglobinemia: A condition that limits the oxygen-carrying capacity of red blood cells. The condition occurs when bacteria in the digestive tract convert nitrate to nitrite.

It's reasonably well known that Glyptothorax (and other Sisorid genera) possess an adhesive apparatus in the thoracic region (chest). They use this to grip onto rocks in fast flowing rivers.

· Pectoral = the region of the chest (also used: the Gk word thorax, mainly as thoracic)
· Pelagic = Gk term referred to regions up to 200 m of depth and to animals occur within these particular regions
· Pelvis = the bone ...

Usually two dorsal fins, the first, if present, with flexible spines; anal fin usually preceded by a spine; lateral line absent or very weak; branchiostegal rays 4-7; narial openings paired; pelvic fins abdominal, subadominal, or thoracic in position ...
