Tilapia buttikoferi is an African tilapiine cichlid fish that can be found mainly in West Africa, more specifically Liberia. They are freshwater fish that tend to live in rivers and streams.
I have 3 Tilapia buttikoferis that are 8, 20, and 25 cm in size. They are pretty aggressive, but not as much as Red Devils, Managuenses, Doviis, or Trimacs. Not from my experience anyways. They don't need a high pH like other african cichlids.

I have 6 of these fish in a 300 gallon tank together with various loaches, tilapia buttikoferi, gouramis. I find they don't bother any other fish due to the room they have. pH 6.
