Tropheus Moorii Species Profile
The Tropheus moorii is often territorial and may be intolerant of members of its own species. However, it seldom harasses its tankmates. It is best to keep this species in groups, with only one male to several females.
Tropheus moorii is omnivorous and should be supplied with both live foods and vegetable matter. Flake foods are accepted and they will also eat algae off rocks and the glass.

Mixing Tropheus Species
When mixing Tropheus you shouldn't put different variants of the same species together as this will result in interbreeding. Interbreeding is unlikely when mixing two different species.
Pseudotropheus zebra is one of the most widely available and popular cichlids in the aquarium trade. They are sold under a variety of names, including "blue zebra", "red zebra" (pictured), and "assorted" african cichlids.
Pseudotropheus crabro doesn't present any problems, but it is quite an aggressive cichlid. It will quickly dominate less aggressive tankmates. Do not underestimate this fish, since it has a very bad attitude.

These are a typical Pseudotropheus and breed very easily.
The Tropheus Duboisi Cichlid originates from the rocky coastal waters of Northern Lake Tanganyika, Africa. They are a beautiful species and are completely black as a juvenile with many white spots.

My orange zebra is a large pain in my backside. It refuses to leave the other fish alone and is much to aggressive.
multipunctatus parasitizes species such as Tropheus moori, Ctenochromis horei, Simochromis diagramma, S. babaulti and Pseudosimochromis curviforns.
This species may also be referred to as Pseudotropheus Acei, the author believes these to be one and the same. The body will be dark purple or dark blue and all fins will be yellow.
For a tank of small community fish, White Clouds or Zebra Danios are good cycling fish; Cherry Barbs or Tiger Barbs are good for a slightly more aggressive tank; or Pseudotropheus zebra is a good choice for an African Cichlid tank.
Some fish, particularly African cichlids of the Psuedotropheus and Melanochromis genera, seem to become homicidal maniacs if the temperature goes beyond a certain point.
