Tropheus duboisi Maswa
Origin and locale/variety: Throughout northern Lake Tanganyika, but concentrated more off the coast of Tanzania.
Size: Adults are usually 2.5 to 4.0 inches in aquarium environment.

Tropheus duboisi "Karilani" - Narrow Band Duboisi: This variety is from Karilani Island, Tanzania and has a narrow white mid-section band.

Company: Tropheus duboisi (Duboisi Cichlid) can be kept with other Lake Tanganyika cichlids with similar demands.

I have learned great care needs to be taken when feeding tropheus duboisi. They need a 100% vegetable diet and should not be fed only one kind of food for extended periods.

Herbivore; Extreme care should be taken when feeding Tropheus duboisi . Tropheus duboisi should be kept on an almost vegetable only diet. If given a diet with large amounts of protein, they certainly will have problems, ranging from bloat to death.

The Tropheus Duboisi Cichlid originates from the rocky coastal waters of Northern Lake Tanganyika, Africa. They are a beautiful species and are completely black as a juvenile with many white spots.

every species we tried to keep in this way ended up with problems and this includes Pseudotropheus demasoni, Maylandia callainos, Pseudotropheus saulosi, Labidochromis caeruleus "yellow", Maylandia lombardoi, Tropheus moorii Bemba, Tropheus duboisi ...

Since all the fish in the tank will be the same price, there's also no worry that an employee will mistake a $50 Tropheus duboisi for a $3 Pseudotropheus zebra. This technique also works for more community-minded species that have color morphs.
