Venturi: A type of valve that produces bubbles by drawing air into fast flowing water. It is sometimes used on protein skimmers. When used with protein skimmers, it has a cylindrical body to draw air in.

Venturi: A Venturi skimmer uses the Bernoulli principle of air injection, and relies on a good quality water pump. In a Venturi skimmer, the water pump is used to push water under high pressure through a component which has a narrowing in the middle.

Venturi skimmers, due to the large water pump needed, have a higher initial purchase price than CC units for the same amount of skimming. Many venturi skimmers are poorly designed, with woefully inadequate pumps to drive the venturi valve.
·Venturi systems do not need frequent replacement, but they do need some searching. Choose the ones with an installed adjust valve to get proper abundance of properly sized bubbles.
The Venturi is is as effective as the use of an air pump and airstone assembly to increase the amount of oxygen in the aquarium.
If your venturi skimmer is producing less foam, squirt some hot water down the airline tubing
into the venturi valve to dissolve the salt deposits there.
WHEN I owned a venturi skimmer, I cleaned the venturi opening by attaching airline tubing to the opening and letting it suck in a few ounces of HOT tap water. If you can't attach airline tubing to your venturi, you can inject hot water with a syringe.
Large TAT skimmer (modified model 90101 double venturi skimmer) run by a 5MD pump from March. Over the life of the tank other skimmers were tested on the aquarium but the modified 90101 was the skimmer that should really be considered as the one used.

I had to bore out of spray bar holes a bit as it had too much back pressure and I was getting flow out the venturi hole.

If the fish is hungry enough, it will come out to eat. Eventually the fish will react to you moving the aquarium hood and will come out to feed at any point during the day sometimes even venturing towards the water surface.
In one of my tanks, I have the air line stuck in the venturi hole in the power head. In another I have a glass jar on it's side which contains the CO2 bubbles.
