Wimple Piranhas are carnivors and accept only meaty foods. Feeder fish may be offered, but because these fish pick apart their prey starting with the scales and fins, it's mearly torture. Breeding and sexing information has not been reported.

Aquarium setup: Catoprion mento (Wimple Piranha) should be kept in an aquarium with dark bottom substrate and plenty of hiding spaces. The aquarium should have densely planted areas as well as open areas. Use floating plants to dim the light.
