The Adam or Federal house plans style was the dominant style in the United states around the period of 1780-1820's.

In brick structures, belt courses defined the separation between stories. More elaborate embellishments included centered gables, two-story pilasters, and roof balustrades. Windows and doors were enhanced with pediments.

Popular features of these revival buildings are round arches, semi-circular arches on windows, and belt courses.
