Crepidoma is an architectural term related to ancient Greek buildings. The crepidoma is the platform of, usually, three levels upon which the superstructure of the building is erected.
Crepidoma - The stepped base of a Greek temple. Crest or cresting - An ornamental finish along the top of a screen, wall, or roof, usually decorated and sometimes perforated.
Crepidoma - the base on which a classical temple sits. Echinus - a convex moulding forming part of the capital in doric and ionic orders, below the abacus. Entablature - the upper part of an order, consisting of cornice, frieze and architrave.
