Drag

Architecture DraftDrawbridge

drag - something that slows or delays progress; "taxation is a drag on the economy"; "too many laws are a drag on the use of new land" ...

Ashlar / Mason's drag / Plain work
- Dressed stonework of any type, where the blocks have squared sides, carefully squared corners, and are laid in regular courses, usually with fine joints.

1134: In this same year, primarily at Chartres, men began, with their own shoulders, to drag the wagons loaded with stone, wood, grain, and other materials to the workshop of the churchm whose towers were then rising.

To resist fore and aft movement, the wing will usually be fitted with a second smaller drag-spar nearer the trailing edge, tied to the main spar with structural elements or a stressed skin.
