There were two facets of Art Deco: Zigzag Moderne and Streamline (Art) Moderne. Zigzag Moderne was highly decorative with the façade of zigzag buildings adorned with geometric ornamentation from which it gets its name.

A major difference between the neoclassical state architecture of Nazi Germany and neoclassical architecture in other modern countries in Europe and America is that in Germany it was but one facet of a severely authoritarian state.

It is the architectural facet of the Arts and Crafts movement of that period.

Unlike the Doric column, the Ionic column has deeper facets and a slender shaft. The Ionic column is widely known for the pair of volutes (spiral looking horns, like those commonly seen on a ram) on either side of the capital.

Another innovation of this period is the decorative brick minaret such as that of al-Mahjam which consists of a square socle with an octagonal shaft which is faceted lower down and has a large diaper pattern on the upper shaft.

Under their direction, confetti glass; streamer; ridged; drapery; and thick, faceted glass nuggets and chunks were made at Heidt's shop. Several glass houses also made great varieties of pressed glass jewels.
