gablets Triangular terminations to buttresses, much in use in the Early English and Decorated periods, after which the buttresses generally terminated in pinnacles. The Early English gablets are generally plain, and very sharp in pitch.
In the Early English period the small buttresses frequently finished with gablets, and the more important with pinnacles supported with clustered shafts.
Pinnacle: Small narrow pointed tower capping buttresses and openwork gablets or portals and galleries. Portal: The door or entrance of a cathedral (fig.3).
