GALLEY: A long passage or room.
HALL: The principal room in the keep, used for receiving guests and for a major entertainments.
KEEP: The strongest tower of a castle. Usually where the lord lived.

 


The earliest examples are those in the pagan basilicas, where it constituted an upper galley for conversation and business; in the early Christian basilicas it was usually reserved for women, ...

Galleys are kitchens aboard ships (although the term galley is also often used to refer to a railroad dining car's kitchen).

Firing gallery: A gallery which was set into the walls or towers of a castle below the level of the battlements. A firing galley was provided with slits for firing arrows and bolts at an enemy.
