Retrochoir
The part of the church to the east or behind (Latin retro) the choir.
Rood
A representation of Christ on the Cross, flanked by the Virgin Mary and St John. Almost all medieval roods were destroyed at the Reformation.

revetment: (1) wall supporting a mass of earth or water; (2) facing, especially of marble, to a wall built of another material.
Retrochoir : The space situated directly to the rear of the altar in a church or cathedral.
