Santa fe style

Architecture SanctuarySapwood

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND AND FEATURES: Just as the Mission style was the "California counterpart" to the Northeast's popular colonial revival style, the Santa Fe style was a reaction to the Mission style of southern California.

Santa Fe Style. This type of Pueblo became the standard in New Mexico after it was defined by the Santa Fe Historic Zoning Ordinance of 1957.
Contemporary Pueblo. Stripped down, unornamented Pueblos without posts, beams, or vigas.

Pueblo Revival is also called Santa Fe style because the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, is considered the heart of Pueblo architecture.
