While Zigzag celebrated modern life, Streamline Moderne looked to a better future. Homes were built in the Streamline Moderne style, but commercial structures-gas stations, diners, bus terminals, stores-were more modest than in the Zigzag style.

 


Zigzag - A zigzag is a moulding running in a zigzag line usually formed of a chevron, or series of chevrons.

A zigzag or V-shaped shaped motif.

The area of the church between a transept and main apse. It is the area where the service is sung and clergy may stand, and the main or high altar is located.

CHEVRON A 'zigzag' pattern characteristic of Romanesque decoration that is often carved around pillars, arches and doorways.
