Convolution and Correlation
By James Matthews
Convolution is a very important operation in image processing. It basically involves calculating the weighted sum of a neighbourhood of pixels. The weights are taken from a convolution kernel.

Convolution
Convolution is a mathematical way of combining two signals to form a third signal. It is the single most important technique in Digital Signal Processing.

Another extension that deals is for each "input" to really be a convolution of the original input sequence.
