Density
Given one particular individual in your data base, are there many other individuals very similar to that individual? If the answer to that question is "Yes", then this individual is sitting in a high density region.

Density function. The Weibull distribution (Weibull, 1939, 1951; see also Lieblein, 1955) has density function (for positive parameters b, c, and ):
f(x) = c/b*[(x-)/b]c-1 * e^{-[(x-)/b]c}
< x, b > 0, c > 0 ...

[edit] Density estimation
Main article: Density estimation
Since the bottleneck method is framed in probabilistic rather than statistical terms, we first need to estimate the underlying probability density at the sample points .

Kernel density estimation A technique for nonparametric density estimation. The density is given by centering a kernel function, e.g. a Gaussian bell curve, on each data point and then adding the functions together.

Probability Density Function
The F distribution is the ratio of two chi-square distributions with degrees of freedom and , respectively, where each chi-square has first been divided by its degrees of freedom.

With conservative assumptions, he estimates a switch density of roughly 15 trillion switches per cubic centimeter in a CPU with a 1 GHz clock speed, processing about a billion instructions per second (1000 MIPS).

There are several points in SOM that suggest that commonsense reasoning systems may not need to increase in the density of physical connectivity as fast as they increase the complexity and scope of their performances.

They find that they do at a critical density of ants, at which the connections between individuals allows for maximum information capacity of the colony. When the density is reached, the colony shows pulses of activity that exhibit self-similarity.

It has been shown that music often has spectral density of 1/f (the concept of spectral density is unimportant here). It has been shown that most fractals fall into a similar 1/f category too.

A forest is an area with a high density of trees (or, historically, an area set aside for hunting).

This interesting fact is even more true of aPFC, which Ramnani & Owen claim has a higher spine density than even other regions of PFC despite having a lower overall number of neurons.

The cortex is essentially a large (approximately 1-meter-square, in adult humans) thin (2-to-4-millimeter thick) sheet consisting of six layers of neurons of varying type and density.

Standard techniques are learning confidence intervals (e.g. error bars for neural networks) and general probability density estimation.

well-studied statistical inference techniques available;
flexibility in choosing the component distribution;
obtain a density estimation for each cluster;
a "soft" classification is available.

The air has been stripped of its moisture due to precipitation, releasing heat as it rises and cools, then has been warmed by increasing density as it descends. The wind is named after the Chinook people.
