NLP natural language processing.
nonlinear planning a planning task in which subgoals interact and cannot simply be done in an arbitrary order, e.g., a task of painting the ladder and painting the ceiling.

ACL NLP/CL Universe. Web catalog/search engine that is devoted to Natural Language Processing and Computational Linguistics Web sites. It exists since March 18, 1995." Maintained by Dragomir R. Radev for ACL.] ...

This stage of NLP is often simply termed parsing since it's main aim is simply to build a parse tree. There are two main classes of parsing; top-down and bottom-up, each having its advantages and disadvantages.

NLP (Natural Language Processing) is a field in AI involving anything that processes natural language. Extensive research in NLP over the past decade has brought us one of the most useful applications of AI: machine translation.

Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Partly out of an attempt to pass Turing's test, and partly just for the fun of it, there arose, largely in the 1970s, a group of programs that tried to cross the first human-computer barrier: language.

Some problems which make NLP difficult:
Word boundary detection : In spoken language, there are no gaps between words; where to place the word boundary often depends on what choice makes the most sense grammatically and given the context.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a subfield of artificial intelligence and linguistics. ... A computer program is a collection of instructions that describe a task, or set of tasks, to be carried out by a computer. ... Terry A.

Models of this kind have recently attracted much attention within the NLP community. Formulating problems as constrained optimization problems over the output of learned models has several advantages.

The book does give a few brief examples of NLP systems, but the most of it deals with the linguistic issues. It also requires some basic knowledge of predicate calculus for one of the parts in the book.

Natural Language Processing (NLP). The ability of a computer application, such as a search engine to accept ordinary language input rather than highly specified instructions. It processes text through analysis of syntax and semantics.

Finite State Transducers are typically useful in NLP (Natural Language Processing) research.
Formal construction
Formally, a finite transducer T is a tuple (Q, Σ, Γ, I, F, δ) such that: ...

edge labeling for semantic representations, Encoding semantic distances in graphs, Ranking algorithms based on graphs, Small world graphs in natural language, Semi-supervised graph-based methods, and Statistical network analysis and methods for NLP.
