Abscission of Light - Prevention of the culmination of an aspect by the intervention of another. Used in Horary Astrology. ACD - Adjusted Calculated Date - This is the local date of birth adjusted to GMT.
It is said to produce an Abscission of Light that will frustrate the promised effect of the slower-moving aspect, constituting a prohibition (q.v.) against its operation.
Al-Biruni gives only one form of abscission of light, the first (a) of Abu Mash'ar's three kinds. Bonatti describes two types, (a) and (b) above, yet, in both cases, gives examples whereby the interposing planet will aspect both significators in turn.
When a planet is simultaneously forming an aspect to two other planets, the one that culminates first may produce an abscission of light that will frustrate the influence of the second aspect.
