Afflicted: Used to describe a planet which is unfavorably aspected; squares, oppositions and quincunxes. An ancient term which is still commonly used.
Afflicted: (Afflicted by / in affliction with): Unfavorably aspected. Loosely applied to: (a) any inharmonious aspect to a planet, or (b) to any aspect, particularly the conjunction, parallel, square or opposition, to a malefic planet.

Afflicted: said of a planet in a sign contrary to it's nature, as Moon in Capricorn or Scorpio; Mars in Libra, Taurus or Cancer; or Venus in Aries, Virgo or Scorpio; OR with a hard aspect from Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto.
Unafflicted - A planet is unafflicted when it is not limited to only hard aspects. This can mean that the planet has no aspects, has only easy aspects, or has both hard and soft aspects.
AFFLICTED: Unfavorable planetary aspect: Squares, Oppositions and Quincunxes.
AIR SIGNS: Signs possessing the qualities of the element Air: intellect, thought process etc. The Air signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.
Afflicted or weakened planets in a birth chart can be pacified or appeased by the use of mantra which is spiritual sound vibration that is repeated for a minimum number of times.

An afflicted Sun has the reverse of the above qualities, such as arrogance, attention-seeking, insecurity, lack of confidence, and a shaky sense of identity. Poor health and a lack of vitality can also be manifestations of an afflicted Sun.
