Angstrom: A ten-billionth of a metre. Employed as a unit for measuring the wave lengths of light. Ten angstrom equal one millimicron. v. Wave Length.
The ultra-short wave lengths in the light band are measured in millimicrons, or angstrom units. A micron is a millionth part of a metre; a millimicron, a thousandth part of a micron; an angstrom, one-tenth of a millimicron.
Almost 40 spectral absorption lines appear above in this 20-angstrom-wide section of the of the Sun's spectrum. "I" stands for a non-ionized, or neutral, ion of an element; "II" represents a singly ionized instance of an element (i.e.
