Astrology AntisciaAntisedent

ANTISCION DEGREE - [ANTISCION OF THE PLANETS.] Besides these and many other divisions of the Signs, I thought good to be plain in setting down the Antiscions of the Planets.

Antiscion: As modernly used in the so-called Uranian Astrology, it is the reflex position of a planet's birth position, in that degree on the opposite side of the Cancer-Capricorn axis, of which either 0° Cancer or 0° Capricorn is the midpoint.

Antiscion - the shadow of a planet.
Aphelion - The point in a planet's orbit that is most distant from the Sun.

Antiscion - the shadow of a planet. Antiscia are also known as solstice points. Antiscia are arrived at by reflection of the axis of the solstices, which is a line from 0 degrees Cancer to 0 degrees Capricorn.

Antiscion gives us instead a notion of 'likeness'[17] based upon the similarity of the degree of the zodiac as it relates to rising times and the equality of days and nights.

The antiscion points are the equal distance as measured from 0 Cancer or 0 Capricorn to the celestial equator and when the Sun arrives at the same degree of declination. Therefore, 28AR40 = 11 degrees declination north = 1VI20.

Contra antiscions.
Apolo-Edited Definition (Devore's having been inadequately clear in this case): These are the same degees of declination held by stars and planets tenanting Signs on opposite sides of the Aries 0º - Libraaxis.

To find the antiscion of any planet find its longitude, for instance 10' 19" Pisces, then subtract the longitude from 30 degrees. What is left over is 19' 41". We see above that Pisces corresponds to Libra. So the antiscion will be 19' 41" Libra.

Contra-Antiscion (Contrascion) The point in the opposite sign, degree and minute to a planet's antiscion, or the point lying equidistant from and at the opposite side of the equinoctial axis (0° Aries - 0° Libra) to a planet.

Cusp
A line dividing the houses from one another ...

In event charts, I prefer to use a technique which yield great results in horary charts, it is the Sabian Symbol of the antiscion degree of a cusp.

antiscia : A degree and its antiscion are equidistant from a particular reference point such as the MC-IC or summer-winter solstice axis and are called antiscia.
aphelion : The point in a planet's orbit that is most distant from the Sun.

antiscia From the Greek, literally shadows on the other side, opposite shadows; mirror or reflection points. A degree and its antiscion are equidistant from a particular reference point such as the MC-IC or summer-winter solstice axis.
