Arabic Parts A series of sensitive points largely defined by and used by Arabic astrologers.

 


Arabic Parts. Calculated points of the zodiac originally used for buying and selling of futures in ancient times. The most commonly used one today is the Part of Fortune or "pars fortune."

ARABIC PARTS
Arabic or Arabian parts or lots, have been used in astrology for centuries although most have now fallen into disuse. The only part commonly calculated today is the Part of Fortune or Fortuna.

Pars Fortunæ The Part of Fortune, one of the most important of the Arabic Parts, or Lots. The point lies the same distance in longitude from the ascendant as the Moon lies from the Sun.

Granite in The Fortunes of Astrology: A New Complete Treatment of the Arabic Parts, (San Diego, CA: ACS Publications, 1980), uses Ascendant + Saturn - cusp of 2nd house.

The same is true of the Part of Fortune or any of the 100 or so other Arabic Parts. The Arabic Parts are mathematical calculations incorporating usually three points in the chart to provide additional clues to interpretation.

The Part of Fortune belongs to the so-called Arabic parts, with origins pre-dating the scholars of the Middle East. Most are no longer used, but this one remains popular and is calculated from your own Sun, Moon and ascendant combination.

One of many derived points used in Arabic astrology (called Arabic Parts), which are calculated using the positions of certain planets and points (e.g., angles).

These are chiefly the astrological planets, dwarf planets, the asteroids, the stars, the lunar nodes, Arabic parts and hypothetical planets.

Arabian Parts- Developed during the Middle Ages in Arabia, each part derived from three points in a horoscope, indicates a sensitive point that relates the three factors involved. There are hundreds of Arabic Parts.

It is found by adding the longitude of the Moon to the longitude of the Ascendant and then subtracting the longitude of the Sun. There many other Arabic Parts each with it's own particular calculation.

My teacher Rocky, described himself as a nuts and bolts astrologer. One who appreciates the use of Arabic Parts, Progressions, Phases of the Moon, etc.

With Uranus in Aquarius the old, traditional methods are being unburied and re-examined as is seen with the emergence of interest in Arabic Parts, the Moon's Nodes, and retranslations of ancient astrology texts.
