Not all astrologers use the lunar nodes; however, their usage is very important in Vedic astrology.

Placement of the Ascending Node oriental of the Line of Advantage is deemed preferable, as stimulating, among other things, increased stature. The Line of advantage joins the third decans of the Third and Ninth Houses.

When the Moon's orbit coincides with the 0 point of Aries the ascending Node will be at Aries or crossing the ecliptic, and the Moon then attains its greatest declination to the Earth's equator during its 19 year cycle, about 28°35'.

Since it is the point at which the interception is made while the Moon is ascending from the south to the north, it is also called the Ascending Node. From Hindu astrology, the term Dragon's Head (caput draconis) is used for the North Node.

Two opposite points of intersection of these orbits are the North or ascending Node, and the South or descending Node. These Nodes regree from month to month, and in approximately 19 years make a complete circle of the zodiac.

Gomedha represents Rahu , the ascending node of the moon. It's natural significations include worldly desires, worldly benefits, laziness, gratification, and ignorance.

When the Moon crosses the ecliptic from south to north this is the ascending node otherwise known as the North Node. When the Moon crosses the ecliptic from north to south this is the descending node otherwise known as the South Node.

The North Node, the Dragon's Head, is called the ascending node, because it marks the point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from southern to northern celestial latitudes, and the South Node is called the descending node, ...

In this regard, Robert Hand wrote that the cusp of the 1st house should be marked by the ecliptic's "ascending node".[2] No one can disagree with that but we shall never find any such phenomenon on the western horizon.

The North, or Ascending Node, is the point at which the Moon moves from below to above the ecliptic plane (from south to north celestial latitude). At the South, Descending Node, the Moon moves from above the ecliptic plane to below it.

Draconic Chart - The natal Dragon's Head (ascending node) becomes 0-degrees Aries of the Draconic chart, or 'draconic equinox' and other planets and points are adjusted accordingly.
