The Campanus House system dates from the 13th Century, and was popularized in the 20th Century by Dane Rudyhar. It is based on the division of the celestial sphere into 12 segments much like the sections of an orange.

House division There are various different ways of dividing the chart into 12 houses. Equal House system. Placidus, Regiomonta-nus, Campanus, Porphyry and Morinus.

Now we complicate this a little more: There are several methods of calculating houses. The methods are named after the inventors of the system. Some of the most used house systems are; Koch; Campanus; Placidus; Equal; Porphrey; and Meridan.
