Celestial Globe. A globe that displays the constellations. Celestial Sphere. The hypothetical sphere of the heavens as seen from a point on earth.
He presented the King with two of his astronomical works, one on celestial globes, the other on the sizes and distances of heavenly bodies. However, Edward's reign was cut short when he died on July 6th 1553, aged only fifteen.
The Pleiades are situated in the shoulder of Taurus. The ceiling follows the convention of celestial globes of viewing the stars from 'outside' so the image is reversed here to show the constellations as they actually appear in the sky.
Note that the stereographic projection shows the celestial sphere as seen from outside the sphere much as you would view a celestial globe.
