CELESTIAL SPHERE
sphere: a surface in three-dimensional space all of whose points are equidistant from a fixed point (the center). great circle: a circle on the surface of a sphere which divides the sphere into two equal parts.

Celestial Sphere: The apparent sphere of infinite radius having the earth as its center. All heavenly bodies (planets, stars, etc.) appear on the 'inner surface' of this sphere and the sun moves along the ecliptic.

Celestial Sphere: The conceptualization of the infinite heavens as a sphere revolving around Earth, based upon the part of the skies visible from a point on Earth.

Celestial sphere - The imaginary sphere whose center is the center of the Earth and on which the fixed stars, planets, Sun, Moon, and the zodiac are located.

Celestial Sphere. The hypothetical sphere of the heavens as seen from a point on earth.
Chart Ruler. Also called the "Personal Ruler." The planet that rules the sign on the Ascendant.

Celestial Sphere. If one pictures the sphere we call the Earth, enlarged to embrace the visible heavens, the resulting concept can be called the celestial sphere. If it is a true sphere, any circle drawn around it can be termed a circumference.

Houses: The celestial sphere taken as a 360-degree circle divided into twelve sections. These sections are referred to by their numbers, such as "the First House," "the Second House," etc.

Circles on the celestial sphere are projected as circles on the projection.
Angles on the celestial sphere are preserved on the projection.

Celestial Equator The projection onto the Celestial Sphere of the Earth's equator in the same plane as the Earth's equator, in other words, the projection of the Earth's equator onto the sky.

Regardless of geographic latitude or house system, the two great circles [7] that generate the four angles of the horoscope always divide the entire celestial sphere into four quadrants of equal celestial space.

Tropic of Cancer The Tropic of Cancer is a circle on the celestial sphere, as well as on the surface of the Earth, parallel to and at an angular distance of 23 degrees and 27 minutes from the equator.

It is into this zone of the sky (or celestial sphere) that astronomers project a perfect circle - the eliptic - formed by the earth's yearly orbit around the sun - or, for an observer on the earth, the sun's apparent orbit around our own planet.

The celestial equator is a great circle of the celestial sphere marked out by indefinite extension of the plane of terrestrial equator.

When looking at a chart, we are seeing on a flat surface a picture of the celestial sphere, and the aspects in a chart are sometimes drawn as a series of lines connecting the planets.

Zenith: The point in the celestial sphere directly overhead; opposite the nadir. The zenith and nadir are the poles of the horizon.

Equinox
Either of the two points on the celestial sphere where the celestial equator intersects the ecliptic; also, either of the two times each year when the sun crosses the equator and day and night are of approximately equal length on Earth.
