Cerberus: a three-headed dog with a snake's tail and snakeheads protruding from his back, one of the offspring of Typhoeus and Echidna, guarding the only gate into hell.

The Ram. The first sign of the zodiac. Its symbol represents the head and horns of the ram. It is a symbol of offensive power - a weapon of the gods, hence an implement of the will.
The souls of the dead, accompanied by Hermes, were met by Hades' dog Cerberus, who guarded the gates so no one could ever again emerge. After judgement, the souls were allocated to Tartarus, a place of torment in the lower underworld.
