Via Combusta: Literally fiery way; refers to a section of fixed stars that falls between 15° Libra and 15° Scorpio.

Combust or Combustion When a planet is positioned in the same sign as the Sun and is less than 8 degrees away from the Sun, it is said to be combust. This is a consideration in Horary astrology.
Combust: A planet is said to be combust when it is in close conjunction with the sun.
Combust - A planet is combust if it lies in the same sign as the Sun beyond the Sun's body (17') but within the moiety or half-orb (8.5 degrees ) of the Sun. Being combust burns up and thus weakens a planet.

Combustion is a term used when the Sun and another planet, primarily Mercury or Venus, is conjunct the Sun, and is said to denote the planet is weakened and the Sun overpowers it.

Destruction by planetary influence. The general effect of a planet destroyed by its close proximity to the Sun is known as combustion.

Said of a planet closer than 5° to the Sun. It introduces factors that considerably alter the interpretation of the conjunction.

The combust planets do not give any Yoga even though such combinations exist. So in order to be useful, Yoga has to form with benefic planets, should occupy benefic houses, should aspect each other properly, and should be aspected by benefics.
Mercury is combust by the Sun - SARS is an acute infectious and inflammatory disease (a pneumonia) that begins with fever above 38 C.
Via Combusta "The Burning Way". A problematic area of the zodiac between 15° Libra and 15° Scorpio. It is especially difficult for the Moon. In a horary chart, the Moon in the via combusta is widely held to be a stricture against judgement.
Moon in the Via Combusta: The last stricture is if the Moon is in the Via Combusta; 15 degrees of Libra to 15 degrees of Scorpio. Traditionally, this portion of the zodiac contained several malevolent fixed stars that debilitated a planet.
COMBUST: When a planet is very near the Sun in the birthchart. It is theorized that the planet loses some of its force.
CARDINAL SIGNS: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Represents initiative.

Balance of Elements
In looking at an individuals astrological chart, the presence of more Fire Signs may well indicate a fiery, combustible personality.
If, however, the distance between them is less than a few degrees, Mercury is said to be "burnt" or "in combustion", with corresponding results. In general, the conjunction shows an immediate connection which usually works in one way or another.
But you and I, seeing that the house is on fire, can understand the causes of that fire, can go away from it and build in a new place with different materials that are not combustible, that will not produce other wars. That is all that we can do.
Her chart is predominantly fire and air which provides inspiration and energy in a fairly combustible combination, and lacks the earth and water which would ground her and give her a practicality which she lacks.
