Comets are dirty balls of ice and rock that orbit the Sun in highly elliptical orbits, taking them relatively close and then very far away from the Sun.

Since Aristotle believed the heavens to be perfect and unchanging, he considered comets to be atmospheric phenomena like lightning, and his view was accepted by most later astronomers.

Comet -A bright star-like heavenly body, composed of masses of tiny particles and gases, which follows an eccentric orbit of the Sun that for some comets can take thousands of years to complete.

Comets. Erratic members of the Solar system, usually of small mass. Luminous bodies, wandering through space, or circulating around the Sun, and visible only when they approach the Sun.

Comet: a small, fragile, irregularly shaped body composed of ices (water and frozen gases) and dust that was not incorporated into a planet when the solar system was formed.

Was the comet a factor? Modern astrology simply doesn't have enough frequent events recorded to say with any certainty. It's a fascinating issue to be examined further.

Planetoid / Comet Chiron's discovery by Charles Kowal on 1 November 1977 in California, being its 'birth' into Human awareness, became an astrological adult on 26 August 2007 when Saturn returns back to Chiron's 'natal' position.

However, because Chiron exhibited a "coma", or tail, some astronomers wanted to classify Chiron as a comet. Currently, it is officially classified as BOTH a comet and a minor planet. Chiron's orbit takes 50.

Others think it is a minor planet, comet, or asteroid—some, both a minor planet and comet.

In 1991, Chiron was classified as a captured comet. Astronomers don't completely agree on whether Chiron is an asteroid or a comet, so he can be found in the catalogues for both. His position can be reliably calculated for the period between 1500 B.

Astronomers continue to change Chiron's orbital status, from planet, to planetoid, to comet, and astrologers are not sure what signs Chiron rules. No one is really sure where Chiron belongs yet.
