Critical degrees 13 and 26 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn (the Cardinal signs). 9 and 21 degrees in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius (the Fixed signs).

 


Critical Degrees. Any planet or point that is in the 1 or 29 degrees of any sign. Also other critical degrees in cardinal signs are 13 and 26; in fixed signs 9 and 21; and in mutable signs 4 and 17.

Critical Degrees:
See table and description of Critical Degrees on page 81. These degrees mark approximately the end of each day's travel of the Moon through the twelve signs.

Critical Degrees. v. Moon, Mansions of.
Crooked Signs. Taurus, Capricorn and Pisces; and should the Ascendant or Moon be in one of these, and afflicted by the malefics, the native, it is said, will be crooked and imperfect.

'Critical degrees' are based on the Moon's average daily motion through the signs, counted from 0 Aries, and they symbolise a crisis point. They are:
Cardinal: 0, 13, 26.
Fixed: 9, 21.
Mutable: 4, 17.

The critical degrees associated with the limits of the Moon's mansions (12-13 and 25-26 in cardinal signs, 8-9 and 21-22 in fixed signs and 4-5 and 17-18 in mutable signs) are critical degrees because the Moon mansions' length is 3/7 of the length of ...

NOTE: Critical degrees strengthen any planet placed within an orb of 3 degrees of the critical degree.

In a later period the cusps were known as Crucial or Critical Degrees, with particular reference to the prognosis of a crisis in the progress of an acute disease; also the days on which the Moon forms inharmonious aspects - the 7th, 14th, ...

Lunar Mansions: From Hindu astrology, a twenty-eight-fold division of a horoscope (twenty-eight mansions or houses) based upon the Moon's average daily motion. Critical degrees are derived from a similar division of the zodiac.

The conjunction of 1969 begins to give us some insight into the profound conjunction of 1997, and the importance of critical degrees.
