In the last few years, the cool lunation graphics that are free to download have made it easier to follow the waxing and waning of the Moon.

The Moon's cycle lasts approximately 30 days as it appears to move round the zodiac. We usually notice the Full Moon because this is when the Sun is directly opposite the Moon and casts it's light onto the Moon's surface.
