Dignity: The sign that a planet rules naturally is its sign of dignity. A planet is essentially dignified when it occupies its natural sign of dignity or its sign of exaltation; it is accidentally dignified when placed in its natural house.

 


Dignity: Essential or Accidental?
There are two kinds of planetary dignity - essential and accidental.

Dignity - a planet in the sign that it rules
Exaltation - a planet in the sign where it is strong - this can act like an exaggeration
Detriment - a planet in the sign that is opposite to the one it rules ...

Dignity: A Planet's dignity basically refers to the strength of its position in the chart.

Dignity. A planet is dignified when it is in the sign it rules.

Dignity and Detriment : A planet is strengthened or dignified if it falls within the sign that it rules. In other words it is said to exercise Rulership of the sign. For example, the Moon in Cancer is considered "strong" (well-dignified).

Dignity:
A planet is said to be in its dignity, or to be 'essentially dignified,' or to 'rule,' when it is in certain signs which agree with it in nature, for then the power of the sign and the power of the planet are compounded.

Domal Dignity. Said of a planet when it tenants its own Sign (v. Rulers.) A planet so placed was described by the ancients as 'domiciliated'.

accidental dignity : A planet that occupies its house of natural rulership or falls within 5° of an angle is said to be accidentally dignified.
acronical place : The position occupied by a planet when it is opposite the Sun.

Accidental Dignity - Planet dignified by favorable position, motion or aspect, but not in Essential Dignity.
Accidental Debility - a planet weakened by house placement or by aspect to a malefic object.

Dignified or Dignity: Planet that rules the sign it is in. Indicates a control of circumstances. Example: Mars in the astrological sign Aries in a Natal chart would be considered Dignified.

Both sexes have considerable charm and dignity, which make some male Virgoans appear effeminate when they are not.
