The Equinoxes and the Solstices mark the beginning of the seasons in the Northern Hemisphere and also mark the entry of the sun into each of the cardinal zodiac signs.

Equinox
This is when there is equal day and night on the Earth, caused by a particular alignment of the tilt of the Earth and its relationship to the Sun. This happens twice in a year - in April and September.
Equinox -this occurs when the center of the Sun is directly over Earth's equator. The Sun crosses the equator twice each year, once at the vernal equinox when it enters 0° Aries and again at the autumnal equinox when it enters 0° Libra.

Equinox: Means equal night and marks the beginning of spring and fall. As the sun passes the point of the Equinox, the days and nights become equal in length. The Equinox's are times when the sun moves into the first degree of Aries.

Autumn Equinox - The Autumn Equinox occurs in September, when the Earth's axis is neither leaning towards nor away from the Sun. This Equinox may slow you down after a long, playful summer.

Equinoxes represent the two points of intersection of the Ecliptic and the Celestial Equator. Sun transits over them when day and night are equal. These points slowly move backward. This is known as precision of equinoxes.
The Equinox's red arrow can be imagined either as the hand of a clock, moving anti-clockwise and completing a circle in 26,000 years, or as a fixed pointer, while the disc of the wheel shifts slowly clockwise once every 26,000 years.

The vernal equinox is the point of reference from which both astronomers and astrologers begin their measurement of the ecliptic, and it marks the beginning of the division of the zodiac into twelve equal segments.

Precession of the equinox is caused by the fact that the axis of the earth's rotation (which causes day and night) and the axis of the earth's revolution around the sun (which marks the passage of each year) are not parallel.
