House Systems. The ways in which the astrological chart is divided and the house cusps established.

 


Some house divisions try to incorporate this fact by supposing that the great semi circles responsible for MC and IC run from North to South Poles of the Earth, instead of from north to south points of the local horizon.

The natural zodiacal house divisions maintain 0 degrees Aries as the first house beginning point, thus this chart type is known as a 0 ARIES chart.

Since most House divisions are unequal, at some latitudes it is quite common to have a chart where two opposite signs are entirely contained within houses, so that no degree of either sign appears on a House Cusp.

In equal house division chart, each house measures 30 degrees and corresponds to a zodiacal sign; these house divisions do not necessarily correspond to an aspect of life as denoted by different house divisions.

Once the planetary positions, house divisions and aspects are drawn onto a chart wheel the astrological analysis can begin.

(There are number of methods of house divisions which can be learnt from the astrological books). Late Dr B.V.Raman one of the greatest savants of Astrology states "The twelve Bhava houses represent the entire life history of the individual.

In the Placidus system of House divisions adopted by myself, as well as by many other traditional practitioners, the Houses' sectors are not of equal length, but vary according to season of birth, time of day and Latitude of the birth place.

Astrologers have devised many systems of calculating these house divisions. In the case of the equal house system the ecliptic is divided into twelve equal houses of 30° each.

There are various ways to do so: thus, there are various systems of house divisions. Each system establishes a different type of correspondence between the yearly cycle represented by the Signs and the daily cycle represented by the Houses.

Yet, not only are there so many different systems of cusps that it is rationally impossible to understand how they could all work, but it now appears that the entire idea of dividing a chart up by a system of twelve house divisions, ...

Bhava Kundali - The horoscope in which planets are shown in different house divisions worked out on the basis of precise delineation of different bhavas, which are neither necessarily synchronous with zodiacal signs, nor of equal divisions.
