Intercepted Planet
When a planet is positioned in a sign that is intercepted in a natal chart, that planet is said to be intercepted. The energy of this planet tends to be more difficult to bring out directly in the person's life.

Intercepted - When a sign is fully enclosed between the cusps of a house without actually being on either cusp it is described as being intercepted. This only appears in charts; signs are never intercepted in the zodiac.

Intercepted signs: signs which can crop up in a chart which do not cross any house cusp, always in pairs, opposite one another; more common in temperate and polar latitudes, or when one of the solsticial signs is rising.

Intercepted, Interception. When an entire sign is in a house that has the preceding and succeeding signs on the cusps of the house. The opposite sign will likewise be intercepted.

Due to this fact occasionally an entire Sign may be contained within two House Cusps, no cusp falling in it. These are called Intercepted Signs and have an important bearing in the affair of the House they are intercepted in.

Some charts will have what are called intercepted houses. If you have an interception, there will be two signs, exactly opposite one another, that will not be on the cusp of any house.

The take-off chart shows an opposition in angular houses between Mercury (8th ruler) and Uranus (co-ruler of the 1st House, with Aquarius intercepted there).

Those houses contain what are called intercepted signs, meaning, as you described, that an entire sign is completely contained within one house.

In this particular chart, since it's nocturnal, Virgo is the ruler of Mercury, and the entire sign of Virgo is intercepted in the 8th house.

This may not mean anything at all but this is also the two houses that would be complimentary echoes of my Rising Sign: Scorpio Rising with an intercepted Sagittarius making up my Ascendant.
