Intercepted Sign Or House: A House which appears within another House on the chart wheel. Common to those born in far northern or southern latitudes.

 


Intercepted Sign
This is a characteristic of how a zodiac sign is sometimes positioned in a natal chart.

Intercepted signs: Intercepted signs are more common in charts where the birthplace is found in more extreme north and south latitudes versus latitudes found near the equator. .

Intercepted signs: signs which can crop up in a chart which do not cross any house cusp, always in pairs, opposite one another; more common in temperate and polar latitudes, or when one of the solsticial signs is rising.

Juno The third asteroid discovered in the early 1800s named after the Roman goddess, Juno, wife of Jupiter; associated with marriage.

Where there is an intercepted sign, its Lord has also partial rulership over the house, although it is inferior in this respect to the planet which rules the sign on the cusp.

Those houses contain what are called intercepted signs, meaning, as you described, that an entire sign is completely contained within one house.

In Getty's chart Saturn rules the 2nd cusp; Jupiter, the natural significator of wealth, rules the intercepted sign; Mars disposits the Part of Fortune and occupies the 2nd house. All three 'superior' planets share in the signification.

(7) The Ruler of an intercepted sign in the First House is generally accepted as a co-ruler - after such time as by progression the cusp will have advanced into the intercepted sign.

It is more logical to consider the House as intercepted by the Sign - than the reverse although it is frequently referred to as an intercepted sign, instead of an intercepting sign.

A house system devised by 17th century mathematician and astrologer Placidus de Tito, and based on a time-division method for the time it takes the Ascendant to become the Midheaven. Like Koch houses, Placidus can have intercepted signs.

Some astrologers believe that the sign on the cusp and the intercepted sign are co-rulers of the house. This often become contradictory and somewhat confusing to the beginner, and I don't personally subscribe to the idea anyway.
