An Orb of 8 to 10 degrees, when the Sun or the Moon are involved, seems to work well with me. I would choose the lesser Orb (8Ëš) mainly for Aspects that are separating.
Major Aspects. Refers to a group of aspects that ancient astrologers such as Claudius Ptolemaeus (Ptolemy) felt were the most important: conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition.

The Conjunction: Planets and points that form a conjunction are energies that are united. They are blended; therefore, they act together.

The traditional major aspects are sometimes called Ptolemaic aspects since they were defined and used by Ptolemy in the 1st Century, AD.
Major Aspects
Conjunction: The most powerful of all the aspects, when two or more planets are together. This is usually a good aspect as the two or more planets combine their energies.
Major aspects including the T-square, Grand Cross or Grand Trine describe the way the energies of the planets involve relate to each other. These create energy imbalances (squares and crosses) or loops (trines) that affect our everyday lives.

Minor AspectsAspects other than the Major Aspects defined by Ptolemy. These were largely defined by Kepler and Lilly, based on harmonic (Kepler) and discordant (Lilly) musical intervals dividing the circle of the zodiac.
Several of configurations formed by major aspects are the T-Square, the Grand Cross, the Grand Trine, a Stellium, and the Yod.
It makes no major aspects to other planets apart from a square to Pluto. The 3rd house is the house of short journeys and Elizabeth made an abundance of those.
The MAJOR aspects are: conjunction (0 degrees), sextile (60 degrees), square (90 degrees), trine (120 degrees), or opposition (180 degrees).
When dealing with the major aspects, ( conjunction, trine, square, and opposition ), some astrologers will allow up to 10 degrees for aspects involving Sun, Moon, or Ascendant, but only 7 degrees for planetary aspects.
Lesser aspects involving these planets can sometimes be difficult to perceive, in the effects they have on our lives, but major aspects are very distinguishable.
In recent times this has been interpreted as allowing all the possible major aspects the Moon can make to other planets in its current sign.
