Major Configurations Overview - this occurs when a series of planetary aspects join to form one super-aspect.
Major Configurations. Aspect patterns in a chart such as the grand cross, grand trine, mystic trine, yod, etc.
Malefic. An aspect or planet that is thought to be harmful to the native.

Second, the South Node symbolizes but one facet of the current life and is subsumed by the chart as a whole-myriad planetary sign and house positions, aspects, major configurations, dispositorships, and the like.
The aspect lines within a chart produce patterns within themselves which make for major configurations which amplify the energy. See links top right of page.

The zenith of the neo-Mongol terror-merchant Timurlenk, reputed for his piles of skulls, occurred later during the major configuration of the 1390s (mentioned in an earlier article), with Uranus and Pluto in opposition. Terror indeed.
Sometimes the dominant element is the Sun Sign, some other time is the Moon, or even the Ascendant sign. However, if a Jones Pattern or any other Major configuration is present it will become the dominant force in the chart.
This charrt has quite a few major configurations in it - take a close look. At the time of re-writing this revised edition (2000), Maya is a university student in physics and engineering - and she seems to do well at it.
