Metonic Cycle - The 19 year cycle wherein the conjunctions of the Sun and Moon begin to appear progressively in the zodiac in the same places as in the previous cycle. Discovered by Meton of Athens.

Metonic Cycle. The discovery about 432 B.C. by Meton, an Athenian astronomer, of the Moon's period of 19 years, at the end of which the New Moon occurs on the same day of the year. Upon this he based certain corrections of the lunar calendar.

Within the Metonic cycle of 19 years the lunar calendar of synodic months reaches a form of accord with the solar calendar, so that the phases of the Moon occur on the same days of the solar year, ...

One type is the Metonic cycle, where the degree and sign of an eclipse recurs 19 years later. There are 2-5 occurrences in a series.

This is called a metonic cycle, which the ancients used to count as very significant, in that it was a time-period which spanned one generation.

These examples indicate that the builders may have been familiar with, and may even have originated knowledge of, the Metonic cycle.
