Mid-heaven - Meridien, or MC (Medium Coeli). The point of the chart at which the meridien intercepts the ecliptic. In many house systems the MC is also the cusp of the tenth house.

Ascendant and Mid-Heaven
The first house is called the ascendant, or rising sign. This corresponds to the sign rising over the horizon at the time and place of your birth.
The second Quadrant is from the Cusp of the Mid-heaven to the cusp of the seventh house, containing the ninth, eighth and seventh houses, and is called the Meridian, Estivall, Feminine, Youthful, Choleric quarter.
With compatibility charts it is advisable to use the natal charts whenever possible because in these charts the Ascendant and Mid-heaven are known. Additionally, the Moon is in its "critical point" at the time of birth.

If the Planet indicating death is in the mid-heaven the part of the chart indicating medicine it signifies that the medicine is poisonous.

The MC is also the cusp (starting point) of the 10th House. "MC" stands for the Latin Medium Coeli which means "middle of the heavens" or mid-heaven.

Of particular interest were the ecliptic degree on the eastern horizon (the ascendant), the ecliptic degree on the western horizon (the descendent) and the ecliptic degree on the meridian (the degree of mid-heaven).
