But, the new planets our modern astrology have changed our understanding of the original planets. The function of Saturn as Gatekeeper or Lord of the Dead has been largely superseded with the discovery of Pluto.
Upon their discovery astrologers continued to use the traditional planetary orbs for the visible planets and incorporated the new planets into the scheme using a standard 5° orb which was also applied to angles, and all other non-luminous points.
Don't expect astrologers to make any changes about re-classified or new planets (dwarf or otherwise) immediately.
Modern Astrology has changed somewhat, with the discovery of new Planets - first Uranus in 1781, then Neptune and Pluto (and finally the Asteroids).

In modern times, new planets have been discovered, so I've updated this page to include glyphs and comments on Chiron, Ceres, and also the Moon's nodes (which are not new, but not really true planets, either, although they have planetary strength!).
