Nocturnal Arc: The time expressed in right ascension that it takes a planet or degree of the zodiac to move from its setting point on the horizon to its rising point.

 


Nocturnal Arc - The distance in space or time taken by a planet passing through the night.
Nocturnal Chart - Nativity of person born at night.

Nocturnal Arc. That portion of 360°, or 24 hours, which remains after subtracting the Diurnal Arc. Semi Arc. Diurnal and Nocturnal, Half of either the Nocturnal or Diurnal Arc, measured from the Midheaven or Imum Coeli to the horizon.

This path is called a diurnal arc, when the star is above the horizon, and a nocturnal arc, when it is below. These arcs are each divided into six, which, when added together, give each and every star - or planet or degree - its 12 house cusps.

The other half, most of which is under the earth, is its nocturnal arc, and half of it becomes the Nocturnal Semi-Arc. The Sun's semi-arc, diurnal or nocturnal, when in 0° Aries or 0° Libra, is six hours or 90° all over the Earth.

An ancient house system based on the division of the Prime Vertical into diurnal and nocturnal arcs which are then divided into three equal parts by two declination circles.
