Nutation - It is that part of the precessional motion of the pole of Earth's equator which depends upon the periodic motion of Sun and Moon in their orbit round Earth.
Nutation: A vibratory motion of the axis of the earth which is responsible for the precession of the equinox. See 'Intellectual Zodiac.' Oblique Ascension: See 'Ascension.' ...
The periods of these Nutations are diurnal, monthly and annual, in addition to the chief one, of the same period as the precessional motion of the Moon's orbit, as noted by its receding Nodes.
The star closest to the poles varies with the Earth's nutation: Polaris is currently the Northern Pole Star and there is no star close to the Southern Pole.
Since the coordinate system is celestially centered, it is insulated from the many eccentricities of Earth's motion: including its rotation, intricacies of Earth time, precession, nutation and its elliptical and perturbed orbit around our Sun.
6-year nutation cycle, that is rotation of the lunar nodes - and "if this is so the laws and periods of the cycles should be investigated by collating observations made over many years, something which has not yet been done".
