The orb is the range in which an aspect is said to be in play. With powerful planets involved, astrologers will accept a longer orb, or a wider range of degree.

Orb: The number of degrees by which an aspect may vary from partile (exactness) and remain effective.

Using the standard list (emboldened type), we see that the orb for Mars is 7°; for Jupiter it is 9°. Added together the orb is 16°; that is, 8° either side of the aspect.

Orb
A kind of "fudge factor" that approximates the region where two planets are in a particular geometric aspect to each other. For example, two planets are said to be in Trine aspect when they are 120 degrees apart, give or take a certain "orb.

Orbit: The path a heavenly body follows as it travels around another stellar body.

Orb of a planet -The orb is measured as the diameter of an imaginary sphere of light surrounding a planet. The light within this sphere is strong enough to form aspects with another planet by mixing with the light surrounding the other planet.

Orb The difference between an exact aspect and the actual aspect. It also describes the maximum difference where an aspect still takes place. This is the amount allowed on either side of an aspect to be considered valid.

The number of degrees departing from the exact point in either direction in which an aspect is believed to still have an influence on the individual.

Orb:
Planets form aspects which influence human affairs when they are in the same degree of the Zodiac, or a certain number of degrees apart.

Orb. The area of influence, as expressed in degrees, within which two planets or bodies are in aspect. Also referred to as planetary orb.

Orb: the greatest deviation that an aspect can have from being exact and still be in effect. Orbs are highest for the Sun and Moon, smaller for the inner planets, and smallest for the outer planets (see the rightmost, upper table on page one).

Despite the foregoing, the allowed orb for fixed stars is a matter of some dispute among astrologers.

Orb : The number of degrees an aspect can be off and still be active. Orbs vary from one aspect to another, from 9 degrees for strong aspects like a conjunction to just a few degrees for weaker aspects.

Allowable orb is the number of degrees off exact the aspect can be, and you'll still call it an aspect. Different astrologers use different orbs; there's no set rule about it. If you want to start with mine, you're welcome to.

Most sets of orb rules adhere to a strict numerical order, dependent upon the type of aspect and whether a luminary (including ascendant) is involved. A wider orb is commonly given for the "lights" and "angles".

In a 1 degree orb comparison between Chiron's natal and secondary progression charts has natal Pallas conjunct progressed Vesta opposite progressed Chiron, natal Juno conjunct progressed Sun that are both quincunx / inconjunct natal Moon.

A good workable orb of influence for most major aspects is in the region of eight degrees ~ eight degrees applying to exactitude and eight degrees separating.

The question of orb of influence must be considered as well. The orb of a planet or aspect is basically the distance in longitude within which an influence operates.

The sun being an orb, or circle, is one of the oldest symbols known that represents life in many cultures. While the sun is not a true planet it is considered so in astrology forecasts.

When two planets are in conjunction, they are "within orb" or about 5 or 6 degrees of being in the same degree of the same sign.

If one of the bodies is the Sun or Moon, a separation (orb) of approximately 0±10° is considered a conjunction.

Forming Aspects are considered more powerful than Separating Aspects; or at least the orb of influence is wider when forming.

The progressed aspects that have come into active orb include progressed Jupiter on the progressed Midheaven; this of course an afflicted Jupiter, bringing into the limelight the culmination of a grandiose scheme that has long been forming.

To be significant in a birthchart, or any other chart, they have to have a tight orb of 1 degree in their aspects, and only the conjunction, opposition and parallel aspects are used.

Because of the "orb of influence," or "orb," which describes the fact that a change in sign makes itself known several degrees before the actual change (also known as the "cusp"), there is some flexibility to the 2160 figure.

Astrologers don’t have a definite rule about how many degrees of orb to use with the various aspects.

Of course, the angles are not always completely exact. Therefore astrologers work with a tolerable imprecision, the so-called orb. The orbs used by astrologers are a matter of their individual taste. Some accept an orb of up to 10°.

Cazimi : When a planet is "in the heart of the Sun", that is, conjunct the Sun within an orb of 17 minutes of arc. Indicates the planet is so closely aligned with the solar identity that it doesn't act independently of the self.

Astrologers usually allow an orb of several degrees for an Aspect. A 3 degree orb is used when casting the charts used for this site.

Most astrologers allow an orb of up to 8 - 10 degrees for these aspects. Aspects to your sun and moon particularly add a very powerful combination of the energy and characteristics of the planets involved in the aspect.

Although these are the degrees of separation when an aspect is exact, the "orb" of an aspect is how far off from exact it can be and still operate.

The Opposition aspect brings a sense of awareness to the individual. Depending on the planets involved it may show an aptitude for seeing both sides of any given situation.

Dissociate aspect - An aspect within orb but out of sign. Dissociation disperses and thus weakens the strength or focus of an aspect.

When building a web, the orb spider just shoots her silk into the wind. If the breeze carries it to a spot where it sticks, her first bridge has now been formed. She then reinforces it with a second line and builds her frame.

Contraparallel: The angular relationship between two planets that occupy the same degree (within 1° orb) and opposite direction of declination, one north of the celestial equator and the other south.

Jupiter, at 24 degrees and 21 minutes of Leo, would not fall within orb, so we would not consider the Moon and Jupiter as quincunx.

Conjunction: Two or more Planets sitting next to each other within an acceptable orb, generally considered within 8 degrees for major Aspects. A Conjunction gives great strength to the energies of the interacting Planets.

This allowance is called the "orb" and may differ from astrologer to astrologer. There are two broad categories of aspects called "hard" and "soft." The hard aspects indicate challenges to be met in life.

Not really aspects (angles) but relationships to the equator, north or south, that is, declination. Parallel is when the planets are within one degree of orb in declination.

The difference in this quadrature as opposed to other historically recent ones is the fact that this one falls within orb of a grand cross with the US radix Venus, Jupiter, Sun, and Saturn, this is an extremely difficult time in US history.
