Orbit
Science / Astrology / Orbit
Orbit: The path a heavenly body follows as it travels around another stellar body.

Orbit. The path described by a heavenly body in its revolution around a center of attraction. Since the attracting mass is also in motion, the orbit must necessarily be an ellipse.

Orbit- the moon takes 27.32 days to orbit the earth. Its orbit is an ellipse.
Atmosphere- there is no atmosphere on the moon. Its low gravity might have caused its atmosphere to escape.

Orbital Revolution:
The revolution of a planet in its orbit around the Sun. The time occupied by the orbital revolutions of all the planets is given on page 7.

The orbit of Saturn takes it around the sun in 29.4 years, but its rotation period (day) is only 10.

The orbits of the planets around the Sun fall largely within a plane (Pluto is an exception), and from the Earth, this means that the paths of the other planets and the Sun seem to fall within a band of sky.

With an orbit of 84 years, the last time Uranus was in Aquarius was 1912 to 1920. Uranus is the planetary ruler of Aquarius, so it is a very special and important sign for Uranus to be in.

Neptune's orbit is about 165 years, or about 14 years in a sign. Neptune connects us not only to our spiritual yearning, but also to the collective unconscious and to the community of souls that share our aspirations.

The Moon's orbit and the earth's orbit intersect and these two intersecting points are known as North Node ( Rahu ) and the South Node ( Ketu ). These orbits differ by 8 degrees. They are mathematical points which influence human behaviour.

The Moon's orbit around the Earth is not the same as the ecliptic. You could visualize them as two giant hula hoops, one inside the other, held at an angle. The Moon's orbit crosses the Ecliptic in two places- these are called the Moon's Nodes.

The Uranus orbit is 84 years and during our lifetime we will experience all types of Uranus transits not only to our natal planets but also through our own personal house placements. The results can be chaotic, exciting, disruptive and freeing.

The Moon's orbit is tilted about 5 degrees to the Earth's orbit, so for this reason the Moon's shadow generally misses the Earth and no Solar Eclipse is present.

Ecliptic: The orbit of the Sun and all the planets around the Earth: the celestial circle that the Sun, as seen from the Earth, seems to follow within the span of a year.

PLUTO and other trans-Neptune dwarf planets Pluto orbits the zodiac in 248 years. The time spent in each sign can varies a great deal because of the planets erratic orbit.

Due to the slow orbital journey it is seen as a generational influence, as with most of the outer planets, its natal house position has a much greater meaning. Its influence is neither mild or subtle, it destroys the old and builds the new.

Because Pluto's orbit is so eccentric, it sometimes crosses the orbit of Neptune. For twenty years from 1979 Neptune was actually the most distant planet from the Sun - Pluto returned to the depths in 1999.

It is into this zone of the sky (or celestial sphere) that astronomers project a perfect circle - the eliptic - formed by the earth's yearly orbit around the sun - or, for an observer on the earth, the sun's apparent orbit around our own planet.

Today, some read Ptolemy as dropping the concept of a fixed celestial sphere and adopting what is referred to as a tropical coordinate system instead: in other words, one fixed to the cycle of the Earth's seasonal cycle rather than its orbital cycle.

We further notice that these elements are all inside Earth's orbit: the Sun, Mercury, Venus and sometimes the Moon, which sometimes passes outside this circle (ellipse) of the orbit (when there is a Full Moon for instance).

The ruling planets of these signs also reflect this "adjustment" and alteration of view from their orbital tilt. Mercury has a 7 degree tilt and Pluto 17! ...

This protostar is drawing material from a surrounding disk of dust and gas that is roughly the size of Jupiter's orbit.

The next Hora is named after 'Shukra' ( Venus, which is the lord of the second HORA , and whose orbit is just below the Sun. The lord of the third Hora is 'Budha' (Mercury) whose orbit is just below that of Shukra (Venus).

Since Mercury's mass increases, by Newton's universal law of gravitation F = γ m1m2 ⁄ d2, the Sun's force on it increases; it is therefore again accelerated in its orbit, in turn causing the orbit to precess.

Perihelion : The point in a planet's orbit where it is closest to the sun and moving as fast as it can.

Orbiting between Saturn and Uranus, its own orbit is elliptical and eccentric. It takes approximately 50 years for Chiron to complete its orbit around the zodiac.

Apogee (apo - away Gaia - Earth): The point in the Moon's orbit that is most distant from the Earth also used when a planet is most distant from the earth.

Moreover, Pluto has its fastest orbital motion while going through Libra and Scorpio, which also coincided with the period of Pluto penetrating Neptune's orbit. Uranus (the Awakener) was in Scorpio in 1975.

In astrological terms, the orbiting planets form geometric angles to our birthchart planets, or "transits.

As the actual planets continue in their orbits, their movements correspond with the unfoldment of specific types of processes for specific periods of time in the life of the individual concerned.

This was reinforced even further when Kepler figured out that planetary orbits are ellipses as opposed to circles.

Earth and the other planets orbit the Sun in predictable cycles. Earth’s cycle is one year (by definition).

From the Sun's perspective (called Heliocentric), there are no Retrogrades, the planets continuously move in their orbits around the Sun. But from our perspective on the Earth, planets sometimes APPEAR to be going backwards.

Just as the Sun in his yearly orbit passes through the fixed stars that make up the constellations of the Zodiac, so too the Moon, in her monthly orbit passes through the fixed stars that make up the Mansions of the Moon.

Chiron, who spends longer in some signs than others, due to an elliptical orbit, was discovered at a time when alternative healing, channeling, ESP and similar teachings were causing a sensation.

A third shaft is fitted to accommodate the high gear ratio needed to represent Saturn's orbit. Six different modules, diametral pitch (DP), were used to allow the gears to mesh correctly. I had to make a fly cutter for each of the modules.

When any of the superior planets (planets outside earth's orbit -Mars outward) appear to be in retrograde motion, it is because the faster moving Earth has caught up with, ...

This liberation gets zapped into orbit with Jupiter in Aries, aligning with Uranus in June and September, and again in 2011.

The illustration represents the crossing of two orbits. The past is in one direction, the future is in another. At the point where they meet, information about other possible lives becomes accessible.

Nodes: The position at which the orbits of the moon or other planets cross the ecliptic. Planetary nodes do not move much more than a degree in a one hundred years. The moon's nodes are usually the most common ones followed by astrologers.

Chiron has an unusual orbit, rather like Pluto. Many astrologers think of Chiron as a "mediator" between Uranus and Saturn. Chiron gives wisdom and patience as well as mastery over the darkness of our souls.

The north node of the Moon is the point where the orbit of the Moon around the Earth crosses the orbit of the Earth around the Sun.

Pluto is normally the outermost planet known to man, but once every 500 years Neptune intercepts the elliptical orbit of this mysterious planet, which has a moon called Charon orbiting it.

The Solar zodiac where the Sun travels in its apparent orbit through the tropical signs (and sidereal constellations). The Lunar zodiac where the Moon has a much wider path of 5.

The North and South Nodes are those two opposing points where the Earth's orbit around the Sun is crossed by the Moon's orbit around the Earth. The South Node of the Moon shows old patterns of behavior and response.

Chiron has an irregular, sort of egg-shaped orbit between Saturn and Uranus. Sometimes Chiron is closer to Saturn, other times closer to Uranus. It's not known what exactly Chiron is.

Because the sun is easily the dominant celestial body (every planet, of course, orbits around it), it has the greatest influence over you; thus people of the same sun sign have many similar qualities.

Apsides: The points in the orbit of a planet or moon which are the nearest and farthest from the center of attraction. In the Earth's orbit these are called perihelion and aphelion, and in the Moon's . . . View Full Definition ...

superior planets : Planets whose orbits are larger than Earth's. The term is sometimes restricted to the three outermost planets: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
swift in motion : Said of a planet whose rate of travel is greater than its mean daily motion.

Aphelion - The point in a planet's orbit that is most distant from the Sun.
Aphesis - The greek word for releasing, as in the releasing of a debt. Often used in connection with time lords governing periods of an individuals life.
