Quadrant: One of the four sections of a horoscope, each bounded by two angles not opposite each other.

 


Quadrant: The local sky is naturally bisected by the horizon, and those two halves of the 360° sky can again be bisected by any vertical plane going through the midheaven and the nadir.

The astrolabe quadrant in the picture is not a specific instrument but, contains the arcs and scales that can be considered typical on a 14th or 15th century quadrans novus.

Quadrants. The four quarters of the Celestial Figure, representative of the four quarters of the heavens, measured from the cusps of the four angular Houses. The oriental quadrants consist of Houses X to XII inclusive, and IV to VI inclusive.

Quadrants - The four quarters in a chart, or the four seasons in the year or the zodiac.
Quadrupedian signs - Alternate term for bestial signs.

QUADRANTS - The whole sphere of Heaven is divided into four equal parts by the Meridian and Horizon, and again into four quadrants, and every Quadrant again into three parts, ...

Quadrant: The circle of the 360 degree chart is divided into four quadrants. Each quadrant represents an arena of experience. First equals intuition, second equals emotion or feelings, third equals sensation and fourth equals thinking.

Quadrants. The four quarters of the horoscope chart, i.e., the first three houses, the second three, etc.

1st Quadrant - 1st, 2nd and 3rd houses. The first stage of personal development begins though self, possessions and environment.

Quadrant house systems divide the houses so that they agree with the "quadrant" concept (ascendant on the first house cusp, nadir on the fourth, descendant on the seventh, and midheaven on the tenth).

Most quadrant systems accept these definitions in theory but many fail to adhere to them in practice.

Saturn has a 29 year cycle, so in our Saturn mandala we can divide the Wheel into 4 quadrants of roughly 7 and a quarter years each. At age 141/2 transiting Saturn opposes the natal Saturn position.

By combining horizon and meridian, the chart is divided into four quadrants. The first quadrant is composed of houses 1, 2, and 3, where the subjectivity of the lower hemisphere meets the self-motivation of the east.

When it came to the Sun itself, there must be a reason why it too was more powerful in the quadrant between the Ascendant and the Midheaven, so to it was given another variety of orientality - that to the Horizon,

The quadrants of the mandala-palace are typically divided into isosceles triangles of color, including four of the following five: white, yellow, red, green and dark blue.

This is usually based on a further division of each of the four quadrants by three. There are various mathematical models according to which the houses are calculated.

Another pattern to notice is the house quadrants involved during the cycles of transit.

Probably the most common system in current use is Placidus, one of the quadrant systems, which uses the axis of the MC/IC as the cusps of the tenth/fourth houses.

The four quadrants which result from the system of axes are each subdivided into three fields. The calculation of the system axes is identical in almost all the various schools of Astrology the method of subdividing differs. See House System.

Note that this information about the lunar phases is used extensively to analyse the modern quadrant qualities. It is also applied to understanding aspects and the phase relationship between planets.

The term is usually reserved for those planets in the fourth quadrant (rising from Ascendant to Midheaven).

ascension (long and short) Due to the obliquity of the ecliptic, some sings rise over the horizon faster than others.

Jupiter is in a quadrant position from the Moon. Moon and Jupiter guarantee fame and great reputation for the native. The conjunction of the ninth lord Mercury, with the Sun generates good fortune as the Sun is the significator of the ninth house.

Also known as Kendras, cardinal houses or the quadrants. The angles are very auspicious. All planets in these houses bestow affluence and happiness and active life. Even a malefic gives good results in the angles.

Angular houses -The first, fourth, seventh and tenth houses. In a quadrant system, the angles form the cusps of these houses.

Unlike the Equal House system, the Porphyry system has the Midheaven the same as the tenth house cusp. The remaining houses are determined by trisecting each quadrant in thirds. This system is now becoming popular in India.

Due to an historic serendipity in its publishing, Placidus is the most popular. House systems either divide up the ecliptic, divide up the quadrants between the angles, or divide up the time. I use the Placidus House System when calculating charts.
