Some of the other aspects used by astrologers are: the quintile, which divides the wheel by 5 and therefore contains 72°; the semi-square of 45° or a division by 8; the quincunx, or inconjunct, ...

This is as far as the minor aspects go, giving us the quintile, sextile, septile, octile, novile and decile aspects. However, these aspects and their multiples can only be arrived at by calculation.

Should you utilize orbs that are too wide you may run into another aspect. For instance the Biquintile of 144 degrees is only 6 degrees distance from an Inconjunct at 150.

Easy Aspects or Soft Aspects A harmonious and easily flowing aspect such as Conjunct, Trine or Sextile and Quintile. For in depth information on the aspects, please visit Lesson 4.

Pass over the other aspects given (such as quintiles and parallels). Many of the lunar aspects can also be passed over, because they pass so quickly, but conjunctions and oppositions by Moon to the planets are well worth watching.

Personally, I was quite surprised to find out that Kepler added the quintile and decile as aspects and also devised secondary progressions.

The number of degrees of orb used also tends to vary with the aspect in question; for example, a wider orb is usually used for a major aspect (e.g., Conjunction) than for a minor aspect (e.g., Quintile).

QUINTILE: An aspect of 72 degrees. An easy aspect representing accomplishments.
RETROGRADE: When a planet appears to be traveling backwards from Earth's perspective. The energy of a retrograde planet is less assertive.
